Recently, our second grade class read the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown.  In the story, Stanley is accidently squashed flat by a falling bulletin board.  One of the many advantages is that Stanley can now visit his friends by traveling in an envelope.

After reading the story, our class thought it would be a fun project to make and mail out flat versions of ourselves.  This is a terrific way for us to extend our geography unit and learn more about towns, states and countries around the world.

Your child will soon be bringing this flat version of him or her self home.  Please use the envelope provided to send your child's flat person (with the letters) to a family member or friend that lives in a different state or even country so we can learn about the world around us.  As always, thanks for your help with this exciting project.
